Eco-hydrologic stability zonation of dams and power plants using the combined models of SMCE and CEQUALW2

Abstract Construction of dams has a significant impact on hydrological conditions rivers. Eco-hydrology, as sub-discipline hydrology, focusses ecological processes occurring within the cycle and strives to utilize them for enhancing environmental sustainability. The aim this study was determine stable instable eco-hydrologic regions in area. First, factors affecting stability were selected according field surveys. Afterwards, layers related each factor prepared geographic information system (GIS) ArcGIS 10 software. These also weighted using analytic hierarchy process pairwise comparisons. Ultimately, final map by integrating determining homogenous units. CEQUALW2 software, water quality hydrodynamic model, used confirm accuracy data perform simulation studied dam. According results, pollutant source found be most important factors. indicated that areas had not suitable condition terms at downstream reaches.
